UB40 has performed some of the most groundbreaking classics, such as “Red Red Wine,” “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You,” and “Kingston Town.” With more than four decades in the industry, the band remains one of the most in-demand touring acts globally. The commercially-successful band has always been a hometown hero in the U.K. They had been a mainstay on the Official Albums Chart since the release of their debut album, Signing Off. Their first number 1 album, Labour of Love, finally broke into the U.S market in 1983. The all-covers album peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. Eventually, it earned a platinum certification in the U.S. Labour of Love spawned the cover hit, “Red Red Wine,” originally performed by Neil Diamond.
In 1989, UB40 released Labour of Love II, consisting of iconic pop and rock song covers. The album charted well in the U.S., peaking at number 30. The album featured the hit singles “Here I Am (Come and Take Me)” and “The Way You Do Things You Do. UB40 released Labour of Love II’s follow-up in 1993. The tenth album, Promises, and Lies, featured an Elvis Presley cover, “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The album topped the U.K. charts and debuted at number 6 on the Billboard 200, making it their most successful record to be released in the U.S. The band’s latest album, Bigga Baggaridim, was released in 2021. The record featured reworked tracks from older UB40 albums, including “Don’t Break My Heart” and “I Got You Babe.”
