The Talmi Entertainment ballet company was formed in the 60s. Akiva Talmi, the founder, met Alexander Godunov, Leonid, and Valentina Kozlov and joined him in his initial productions. As the company grew, it began touring in 1979. Among their mainstay productions is The Nutcracker. Forty years after, their show has become one of the most known.
Currently, the company boasts a diverse ensemble of fantastic ballet dancers. Its principal artists include Prima Ballerinas Karyna Shatkovskaya and Olena Pecheniuk, Japanese dancers Hitomi Takeda and Haruo Niyama, and Turkish dancer Batur Buklu. All of them have received acclaim in their careers. The NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet has become a touring tradition. The Nutcracker comes from the 1816 story of E. T. A. Hoffmann. Called initially, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, it tells the story of a girl who receives a Christmas gift that comes alive. Its ballet recreation was made by Pytor Ilytch Tchaikovsky, helped by the choreography of Marius Petipa.
Its first act starts at a Christmas party as Herr Drosselmeyer gives the young Clara a nutcracker. Later that night, she dreams that the toy will come alive. The story continues with a war between toy soldiers and the mice led by the Mouse King. The second act opens with Clara and the Nutcracker going on an adventure in a magical kingdom.
